CREATIVE CBT INTERVENTIONS FOR CHILDREN & TEENS

Facilitator:

Objectives:

  • Explore and identify the principles of CBT and research regarding theoretical framework; clientelle who benefit from CBT; and diagnoses that CBT is most effective treating.
  • Learn and practice techniques to use with clients, including:
    • Traditional approaches for anxiety, creative interventions to use
    • Traditional approaches for depression, creative interventions to use
    • Traditional approaches for anger/frustration, creative interventions to use
    • Traditional approaches for ADHD, creative interventions to use


 

Facilitator:
Laura Le, LCSW is a therapist at Art It Out. She incorporates CBT in individual as well as group therapy sessions with children and teens. She is dedicated to providing tools to help clients cope with negative emotions and behaviors and increase positive emotions, prosocial behavior, and satisfaction in interpersonal relationships. Additionally, Laura can help individuals who are interested in improving social skills, self-esteem, interpersonal communication, relationships, self-identity and self-acceptance, frustration tolerance, stress management, and overall well-being. Laura mixes play therapy with a cognitive-behavioral approach in group and individual meetings to help clients function at their very best. Laura integrates trauma-focused, dialectical-behavioral, and cognitive-behavioral approaches to help adults overcome struggles, including trauma, self-harm, and dissatisfaction. She is particularly passionate about anxiety-spectrum concerns.

• Engage in experiential component utlizing art interventions
• Discuss key aspects of positive psychology and how it can encourage growth in clients

 

Facilitator:
Janet Burr, MS, LPC, is a therapist at Art It Out and a Psychology Instructor at Kennesaw State University.  Janet’s practice is centered on the principles of Positive Psychology, which focuses on what is right with a person rather than what is wrong with them. Janet uses encouragement and positive regard, along with creative therapeutic techniques, to foster autonomy, confidence, and self-worth. She also uses expressive therapy to create a fun and dynamic experience, providing healing through the use of imagination and expression. Janet believes that hope and joy are catalysts for change.
