Adrianna Bourland is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Adrianna earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders with a minor in Human Development from The University of Alabama. Adrianna realized her passion for the social emotional health of children when she entered educational settings following her undergraduate program, working in a learning center to help children with learning disabilities achieve success both educationally and socially emotionally. Once Adrianna obtained her Master’s degree, she became a Primary School Counselor, serving the mental health needs of children between the ages of three and seven.
Adrianna leans into the Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Adlerian approaches to therapy. Using a strengths-based approach with her clients, Adrianna assists clients so that they may experience growth and learn skills in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. She feels that every individual is unique, and she strives to help each one meet their full potential. Adrianna is passionate about the positive integration of children into each of their various social settings. With experience from the school system, she enjoys the collaboration with teachers and parents in order to make client success transition outside of the therapeutic environment. Adrianna has experience with the Positive Discipline approach and its application to early childhood educational settings, creating a unique opportunity to collaborate with her client’s teachers and school counselors.
Adrianna has experience working with children struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, maintaining friendships, life transitions, changes in family structure, grief, learning disabilities (LD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Adrianna especially enjoys helping clients with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder manage and understand the symptomology of their disorder, empowering them to use their unique gifts to promote growth and wellness. She is currently under the supervision of Chelsea Harris MS, ATR-BC, LPC, CPCS and Erin Holcomb, LPC, CPCS.
