Expressive Art and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

This workshop, led by Erin Holcomb, LPC, is tailored to counselors who work with teens and young adults in a group or individual setting .  Participants will learn the basis for all five modules of DBT.  Erin will take DBT from a purely psycho-educational structure and help you integrate expressive and engaging activities that help with even the most resistant clients. 

We will be live-streaming this workshop due to COVID-19.

Presented by: Erin Holcomb, LPC

Erin is a Licensed Professional Counselor, senior therapist, and a supervisor at Art It Out Therapy Center.  She specializes in working with children, teens, and families with anxiety, depression, social skill difficulties, grief, relationship difficulties, and difficulty regulating emotion.  Before joining Art It Out, Erin worked at the Ridgeview Institute as: DBT Group Facilitator, Case Manager, and Assistant Director of the Adolescent Program  for both the inpatient and partial programs.  Erin has extensive experience leading DBT groups with adolescents and teens.

Educational Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding and foundation of some of the skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as applied to clients with mental health struggles, self-harm, emotional regulation difficulty, or relationship difficulty.

  • Learn the 5 skill modules of DBT therapy: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and middle path.

  • Gain tools for teaching and reinforcing the 5 DBT modules in a group or individual therapy setting. 

  • Learn creative expressive art interventions to utilize to reach and reinforce therapeutic modules. 

  • Learn how to create and individualize diary cards for your clients to monitor skill application.

LPCs/LAPC’s: 6 CORE contact hours of continuing education have been approved by the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCA CE Approval #8888-20W)
