Courtney is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Board Certified Counselor (NCC). She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English, with a minor in Accounting from the University of South Florida, and her Master of Education in Professional Counseling from The University of Georgia. Her passion includes working with children, teens, and young adults (ages 3-21) from all walks of life and adapts treatment based on the client’s need and their cultural background. Courtney takes an eclectic approach to therapy incorporating Person-Centered, Holistic, and Systemic Therapy. With younger kids, Courtney uses a combination of behavioral, play and art therapy techniques.

Courtney’s background includes supporting kids with anxiety (including OCD), depression, behavioral challenges (including Oppositional Defiant Disorder), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), low self-esteem, life transition, changes in family structure (blending / merging families and families going through divorce), school challenges (bullying and unlearned social skills), and trauma history.

Courtney’s goal is to provide each client with a safe space to unpack. She believes the therapeutic relationship is the most important thing and wants to ensure each of her client’s feels safe and heard so they can tell their story, build on their individual strengths, and learn effective coping skills.

Prior to coming to Art It Out, Courtney worked as a Reunification Therapist in Northern Colorado. Courtney has extensive experience with blending and merging families, high conflict divorce cases, and supporting children through trauma and abuse (physical, emotional, verbal, and/or sexual).  Courtney enjoys incorporating the family in her therapeutic process and collaborating with teachers to increase client success beyond the therapy room. Courtney’s passion is to help her clients identify, understand, and express their emotions in a healthy way.   Courtney has Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Training and is a Certified Clinical Child and Adolescent Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP-CA).
