Janet’s clinical experience has included working with children, teens and adults in a variety of settings providing individual, couples, family and group counseling; treatment intervention; and psychological testing. Janet’s professional experience includes several years on faculty at Kennesaw State University teaching psychology. She also teaches continuing education for other counseling professionals and supervises therapists seeking licensure. Janet’s practice is centered on the principles of Positive Psychology, which focuses on what is right with a person rather than what is wrong with them. Janet believes that hope and joy are catalysts for change.

Janet uses encouragement and positive regard, along with creative therapeutic techniques, to foster autonomy, confidence, and self-worth. She uses expressive therapy to create a fun and dynamic experience, providing healing through the use of imagination and expression. Janet combines these practices with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Behavior Therapy for effective, long term change.  Janet works with clients who are experiencing behavior issues, social and academic struggles, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, significant life change, or relational issues. She specializes in working with preschoolers, young children and parents; grief, chronic illness and cancer counseling for the patient and family; and Christian counseling. Clients will benefit from learning coping strategies, stress management skills, relaxation techniques and emotional expression to promote confidence and sustainable change. Janet provides therapy for children and adults; individuals, couples and families; and groups. She also offers specialized groups and workshops for parents and professionals. Janet is a member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia.
