Jessica is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Art Therapist. Jessica received her Master of Science degree in Art Therapy from Florida State University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Art from Florida State University. Jessica has worked in a variety of clinical settings including Centerstone’s intensive in-home program, a child advocacy center, and pediatric unit of a hospital. Before coming to Art It Out, Jessica provided therapy services in Cobb County schools to at-risk youth. She worked with the families, social workers, teachers, and school counselors, to best serve the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of her clients.

Jessica has over 8 years of clinical experience providing therapy to all ages and has worked with children and families in various roles for most of her life. Jessica feels it is both a joy and a privilege each time she develops a trusting relationship with a client and can provide a safe space for change to occur. Her experiences include helping children and teens with their anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, autism, anger management, and self-esteem issues. She also enjoys leading several social skills groups at Art It Out and especially loves working on confidence building and assertive communication skills. Jessica has additional training in Positive Discipline parenting education, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and crisis intervention training. In session, she primarily utilizes both a Client-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach while incorporating art therapy interventions.

Jessica believes creativity is an essential part of growth and thus an important part of the therapy process. She believes using art in session provides a child with a non-verbal and developmentally-appropriate method to communicate and process difficult emotions and life circumstances. It can also be a way to cultivate self-worth, improve focus, and practice mindfulness techniques. Jessica is passionate about educating and empowering her clients so they are able to take the skills gained in session and effectively cope with all of life’s stressors.
